چکیده
SUMMARY OBJECTIVE: The intensity-modulated radiotherapy (IMRT) has been established as the standard external-beam radiation technique to treat prostate cancer in several countries. In Brazil, public health system and National Health Agency do not reimburse its utilization. This study compared cost-effectiveness of IMRT tridimensional (3D-RT) from a payer’s perspective. METHODS: We built Markov model delineate states after treatment with 3D-RT. treatment-related toxicity data were extracted literature. sensitivity analyses performed over potential parameters. RESULTS: incremental cost was R$ 5,553.78. At time horizon 5 years, quality-adjusted life expectancy higher than ratio (ICER) 3D-RT R$-296,74/quality-adjusted year (QALY). Therefore, dominant strategy, which depended on value interventional procedures for severe difference between reimbursement. still most likely be cost-effective at willingness-to-pay 100,000/QALY, net monetary benefit (NMB) superior 50,000.00, resulting R$220.000,00 years. CONCLUSIONS: generated more values treatment. Given reduce late hypofractionation, these reinforce incorporation Brazilian

Intensity-modulated radiotherapy (IMRT) and volumetric-modulated arc therapy (VMAT) are two main radiotherapy techniques. The aim of this study is to explore which is the preferred technique in prostate treatment through the related publica-tions and meta-analysis. Two authors independently identified all relevant articles available regarding eligibility criteria on PubMed, Embase, and Cochrane...
متن کاملForward‐planning intensity‐modulated radiotherapy technique for prostate cancer
In this study, we present an intensity-modulated radiotherapy technique based on forward planning dose calculations to provide a concave dose distribution to the prostate and seminal vesicles by means of modified dynamic arc therapy (M-DAT). Dynamic arcs (350 degrees) conforming to the beam's eye view of the prostate and seminal vesicles while shielding the rectum, combined with two lateral obl...
